IRIS Pro Series PC-9 for FSX released!

IRIS Pilatus PC-9/A

IRIS Flight Simulation Software is proud to announce the release of the second IRIS Pro Series product range, the Pilatus PC-9!

Developed using the Pilot Manual for the PC-9/A flown by the Royal Australian Air Force, this PC-9 product builds on the superb reputation forged by our debut IRIS Pro Series Product, the T-6/A Texan II.

We have taken on board comments and wish list items provided by our customers on what THEY would like to see from a Pro Series product, and with a lot of feedback, a great deal of help and some very late nights, we believe we have a product which leaves other Pro Series products standing!

Not only have the instruments and systems been faithfully modelled, we have also implemented the use of droppable ordnance for those who like a bit of BANG for your bucks... ;)

In addition, we have added other new features such as progressive icing and perishable aircrew. However these touches would be nothing without a superb stable aircraft with which to work from.

The IRIS Pro Series product features crisp, clear textures rendered down from 2048x2048 pixel master bitmaps to 1024x1024 bitmaps at 32 bit colour for Microsoft Flight Simulator use. This provides a crisper and ultimately clearer texture than designing at 1024x1024 pixel originals and the quality does show.

The sound-set is an FSX custom sound-set by Chris Petersen at Turbine Sound Studios and truly showcases the advanced audio capabilities of Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

Flight modelling is of course a collaborative effort by Rick Piper, David Brice and Pam Brooker, and together we've managed to come up with what many consider a first class rendition of the PC-9 flight performance. We've even tested them against real RAAF PC-9/A training videos! The general feedback so far is that it's a superbly manoeuvrable aircraft which is a joy to fly for both beginner and experienced pilots alike.

After providing the T-6 documentation in an on-line form, we have decided by popular request to write a PDF manual for the PC-9 product. However at a massive 90 pages long it does cover every aspect you're likely to need to know on the PC-9 and its operating procedures! We're confident that you'll be referring to the manual on a regular basis as you learn to master the joy of the PC-9 trainer.

Welcome back to the new IRIS website.
26.Nov.07 - 1700 AEST - IRIS Website back online!

We are proud to provide you with our new website, store and forums. We have spent the last few weeks hard at work behind the scenes to bring you our new look for the future.

The catalog has been optimized behind closed doors, however we have been able to retain the user database so any previous orders purchased from us will still be able to be accessed. Furthermore the forgotten password script has now been fixed so new passwords can be generated and e-mailed to the e-mail address on file should you have forgotten your password for the store.

The Oz Flightsim Expo proved to us that a redesign of the site was needed to further enhance our standing as a proudly Australian business, whilst retaining the multi-cultural feel of our product range which has defined us over the years.

Rest assured, we'll still be providing you with cutting edge renditions of British, U.S. and European aircraft, however we cannot ignore the strong call for us to take some time to concentrate on aircraft from our own country as well, such as the Pilatus PC-9/A and F-111C.

Thankfully the feedback from the Oz Flightsim Expo 2007 (which has been confirmed as the world's largest attended flightsim event and one we have been honoured to be involved in ) has been superb. We are now extremely confident that the Australian purchasing public along with other Australian ex-pats from around the world will gladly support us in any Australian aircraft we choose to produce.

So in closing I welcome you to our new look website, please feel free to browse around and learn the new setup and if you have any questions, please feel free to PM us on the forum or e-mail support@irissimulations.com.

Welcome to the new look IRIS Flight Simulation Software website.

23.Nov.07 - 0100 AEST - FSX:Acceleration Compatibility

We have had many requests to clarify the state of play regarding our product range its compatibility with FSX: Acceleration. As such, we have prepared the following statement which illustrates our official position regarding our product range and the Acceleration expansion pack.

"With the launch of the Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Acceleration expansion pack and Service Pack 2, we have found a number of visual models have been experiencing certain issues when using Acceleration, DirectX 10 and/or FSX Service Pack 2.

These issues relate to visual models compiled using MakeMDL for FS2004 and ported over to work with FSX RTM (off the shelf) or FSX SP1.

This is not an issue specifcially relating to IRIS, it is an issue commonly found across the flightsim community where aircraft have been compiled for FS2004 and are used within FSX running Acceleration and Service Pack 2.

Issues being experienced include but are not limited to, white textures on aircraft in FSX when running in DX10 preview mode, opaque glass textures in the virtual cockpit and chrome effects in the virtual cockpit when certain light conditions are enabled.

As such, we would like to clarify that effective immediately, the following aircraft are compatible with the following versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator;

FSX:RTM (off the shelf retail version of FSX)
FSX: SP1 (FSX RTM with Service Pack 1)
FSX: Accel (FSX SP1 with Acceleration Expansion pack and SP2)
FS2004

IRIS Pro Series T-6/A Texan II - (FS2004, FSX:RTM, FSX: SP1, FSX Accel)

E.A.P. - (FS2004, FSX: RTM, FSX: SP1)

F-15C Eagle - (FS2004, FSX: RTM, FSX: SP1)

F-14 Tomcat - (FS2004, FSX: RTM, FSX: SP1)

F-15E Strike Eagle (FS2004)

Phantom FG.1 - (FS2004, FSX: RTM, FSX: SP1)

Phantom FGR.2 - (FS2004)

F-35 Joint Strike Fighter - (FS2004)

Mig-29 Fulcrum - (FS2004)

Mig-29 Naval Fulcrum - (FS2004)

Mig-27 Flogger - (FS2004)

P-40 Warhawk - (FS2004)

Whilst we will work at making certain aircraft FSX: Acceleration compatible, due to time constraints some aircraft which are incompatible with FSX: Acceleration may not be upgraded.

We will be informing our resellers to note certain products as being incompatible with FSX: Acceleration so that purchasers are aware prior to purchase."
